But first, OsoHappy, the giant mud oven bear at Los Osos Valley Nursery (201 Los Osos Valley Rd.) and built by mud-oven builders Jordan and Meleah of Ncredible edibles Sustainable Solutions (http://www.ncredibleedibles.com/) had to have a fire in its belly.
And while that was happening, why not build a spiral raised herb bed in one corner.
And prepare pizzas -- goat cheese, fresh basil, veggies, pepperoni and even an applie pie!
When the fire was down to coals, Jordan raked out the coals, gave a quick swipe with a wet towel to clean the firebrick oven floor.
Then into the oven with the pizzas, then out of the oven and it's time to eat.

Oso cute.
So it bakes on retained heat?
Glad that you got the picture problem fixed Ann! Great shots!
Alon, they told me that the oven retains its heat for 12-15 hours.
The bear is amazing in person because it is so BIG!
Alas, picture problem not fixed. Now pretty sure it's the camera that's dying of old age -- had the chip checked, it's o.k., but half of some of the pics weren't "taking" so weren't downloading right. So, time for a new camera, methinks.
Maleah said the oven retains heat 12 -15 hours, so you can cook for days on the thing. Quite amazing. During the first pizza run, Jason said the thing seemed to be running hot and speculated that it likely may be a hotter-running oven because of the mass of the clay bear, which makes it thicker than usual, hence retains more of the heat.
Wow, I wrote a comment here, posted it and it vanished!
I think I said to Ann:
Thanks for the oven info. I wish crock pots were designed as cute as this as we all don't have the space for something this big. Good luck with the hunt for a camera bargain (which I posed somewhere else) and your articles are enhanced with the photos!
Were you at the meeting last night at SBCC? I was in front and didn't see all who were there. If you missed seeing Mark Lakeman, and you are not going to the CSD meeting, there is another chance to see him tonight in SLO. I really liked his talk and his slides and his message and it was well worth my time!
