Your Sunday Poem

This sly piece by Piet Hein (1905-1996), Danish scientist, poet, put together books of these short poems called "gruks" (grook)

Timing Toast

There's an art of knowing when.
Never try to guess.
Toast until it smokes and then
Twenty seconds less.

So Gruk means Grooks?
I’ll try to translate it online

Short Bread

Oh, oblong, sweet and salty limerick
By far it was too short
And though I tried to savor it
Those efforts came to naught.

If you check Piet on Amazon, there's a description of his work, mostly out of print, and "gruk" and his bio. Very interesting guy.

Ha-ha! So true about when things are done!! We should honor the many who cook food to perfection, it was a long apprenticeship with many ghastly, smoking pieces of toast and beyond! I'll never forget the rubber jellyroll that I once served to guests. This was 30 years ago when I still cooked. They were very polite about it and are probably still chewing on it!

Has anyone else noticed how hard to read the photos of numbers have become to prove that we are not robots? I have to push the refresh button several times to get one that is legible. I'm nearsighted and have a good screen too. Becoming a robot maybe?

Hm m I thought it was more philosophical Toons, then practical.
In the vain of the impossibility of time travel and this one;

THE ROAD TO WISDOM?

Well, it's plain
and simple to express.
Err and err and err again,
but less and less and less.

— Piet Hein.

I wonder if those people gave permission to have their house numbers photographed.

I'm sure that you are right about the poem being more philosophical. I guess I was hungry! Didn't even go there!

I doubt it. But then, who would know their own even?
