From, Love Poems from God; Twelve Sacred Voices from the East and West, Daniel Ladinsky, ed. This one by St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380)
Consecrated
All has been consecrated.
The creatures in the forest know this,
the earth does, the seas do, the clouds know
as does the heart full of
love.
Strange a priest would rob us of this
knowledge
and then empower himself
with the ability
to make holy what
already was.

Thanks for more musement Ann. Simple and beautiful. Universal timeless and modern.
St. Catherine? Hmmm… Time to pull the old Wikipedia down from the top shelf,
blow the dust off the cover and crack it’s gilded leather bound spine.
On the face of it, a simple return to the message of the lord and an excisem from priestly dominion.
Ah here it is; The female St. Francis. Repentance and renewal through a total love for God.
What’s this?
“Convinced Pope Gregory XI to return to Rome” and “Convinced nobles and cardinals of Pope Urban’s legitimacy?” That makes sense, though; it’s hard to get canonized by preaching away from institutionalized religion.
As Avril of Avignon may say “life’s so consecrated”.
This all seems to have to do with a very Old School Turf war.
And I do mean Turf war
And I do mean Old School
And I do mean OG
And I do mean; like the OPP
As in Original Gangsta and Original Venice Ghetto
Other People’s Popes hanging in the Old Popes’ Palace.
So, don’t ask Saint Cathy, don’t you ask St. Alice
Just let me tell you now, about this time of malice
It was a Papal succession, as a matter of fact
You say what is this now? I’ll say it was that.
In the thirteen seventies, the radio carried nothing but
And you can just call it; The Popester Saint Rap
Do I kiss this dudes ring, Should he bend on his knees
This one’s dedicated y’all, to all my fallen P’s
Now let me tell ya, let me tell ya bout dis
There was this dude, Vicedomino de Vicedominis
Tried to be Gregory Eleven, got it into his head.
Went to bed at seven , next morning woke up all dead
This is how it started, and this is how it all went
East Church byzantine breakout was a much smaller rent
This one they ended calling the Great Western Schism
Most K-Otic rift to happen in all Catholicism.
The Roman church was in its French displacement
International relations were like some crack house basement
Whose is da boss, and whose is the hizzum?
This pope-anti pope had this whole different rhythm
Waycliffe John laid down “On Civil Dominion”
Jhonnes Klenkoka’s playing his Decadecon
Holla out Heretical calling for new reformation
Showing major disrespect or just another opinionation
Avignon Seven, calling Pope to Pope.
War of eight saints now, what’s the dope
One Boniface runs Rome, but then there are two
Benedict rules Florentine, flashing colors at you.
Then three Popes duekin it, whose left alive?
The last one standing was Urban Five.
That’s how it went down, that how it was
Don’t ask me “why?”, it was just because.
And nothing changes, if you see the latest scandal out of the Vatican: purloined accounts, missing letters, dueling cardinals making like the Borgias, all intriguing behind the arras.
Yup. Couple hours ago- A random thought popped in, "The Borgias next". Were you transmitting? Still can't get over how close Ex-Cardinal Ratzinger facial expression looks to Emperor Palatin. (or someone in the series). I didn't follow through on a research/ publishing project but he seriously undid John Paul 2's acceptance of Darwin's theory ( And who could not love a Pope named after half the Beatles)
Bring back the Polish pope!
Or the internationally revered Pope of my youth Paul VI( well birth control -but what do you expect).
Bring them back, unless Ecco Homo, in which case Habemus Pabum.
Fascinating discussion! Love the poem and l-o-v-e the rap!
Get a room, you two.
