Dive In

Swim time!  Or not.  "SLO County Sheriff's Department: Fake "Los Osos Community pool Association" a "Civil matter."  at  http://www.sewerwatch.blogspot.com

Well, of course it is.  As it says in Chinatown:  ". . .as little as possible . .  . ."

Adding to Ron's article, Pandora Nash-Karner's newest (alleged) 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation "Celebrate Los Osos" is actually not listed as a 501(c)(3) anywhere.

On the Celebrate Los Osos web site, it reads the following:

"Please include your name, address, phone number and email address. We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation, so your contribution is tax deductible."

Source: http://www.celebratelososos.org/get-involved.html

Pandora Nash-Karner has a long history of forming shadowy non-profit corporations that don't actually exist. To say that one's donations to CLO are "tax deductible" is false.

Stop lying, Pandora.

Can't anyone in Los Osos do anything or say anything positive?

That sewerwatch.bs is anything but positive and is certainly not "investigative reporting".

The sewer war is over folks, the County is building a modern sewer. It's out of your town, so why are you still trying to fight?

Pay your sewer bill or move. Property values have started to rise again, good time to sell. Real straight forward decisions to make. Pay or move, no one cares about individuals negative sewer complaints any more.

For once, the discussion is actually not about the sewer. Sorry to burst your sewer bubble, 6:42 PM.

Hmmm. maybe it's time to start a new chant, this one from Jerry McGuire, SHOW ME THE MONEY? or SHOW ME YOUR 501(c)3?

I love how the Sheriff seems to think that collecting money under false premises is a "civil" matter. Hmmmmm

And you're right, Ron's post isn't about the sewer.

LOCO- Los Osos Community Organization I believe is the non-profit. You are jerks for continuing to harass Pandora but if you love misery and wallowing in the past you definitely have the "club" for it. The "gotcha" BS is driving the community nuts and frankly, no one wants to ride that bus.

Sick of all of it, sick of all of you harassing people, sick of how people get treated by the sub-par mentality.

Ignoring it isn't enough because everything seems like a big game to so many of you.

LOS OSOS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION is not the same as "Los Osos Community Pool Association" or "Celebrate Los Osos." Even if they were one in the same, it's illegal to form associations that are not inherently linked to the mission/purpose of another 501(c)(3).

And it's not "gotcha" at all.

Take Celebrate Los Osos for example. On their web site, it reads:

"If you wish to help, send a check, made out to Celebrate Los Osos, to

Celebrate Los Osos
c/o Los Osos Community Foundation
350 Mitchell Dr
Los Osos, CA 93402

Please include your name, address, phone number and email address. We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation, so your contribution is tax deductible."

The words in bold are added to demonstrate a point here. If all these 501(c)(3) organizations were, in actuality, Los Osos Community Foundation, then you would see the name of that non-profit included. Also, in the August 31, 2001 letter to Mrs. Coleman, there is no mention of the Los Osos Community Foundation anywhere. Pandora Nash-Karner specifically states that she is president of the "Los Osos Community Pool Association" Board of Directors.

Also, that non-profit was several years before the "Los Osos Community Pool Association" was established.

Just because you have one 501(c)(3) doesn't mean you can form non-existent ones and ask for donations that you don't return.

* I meant Los Osos Community Organization, not Foundation

Sounds to me like Ms.Coleman needs some cash or maybe she just needs to get a job.

O.K. So what's the 501(c)3 number? Why isn't it on the website? And which organization is it assigned to? This seems like such a simple question to answer: What's the number?

Anonymous said...

Ann, that's the thing. Pandora can address these issues very, very easily because everything she does is smoke and mirrors.

In the 501(c)(3) filings for "Los Osos Community Organization," there is no mention of any other organizations. Again, you can't just form random organizations, call them "non-profits" and seek irrevocable donations. That spells trouble.

Did I see a dusty duffel bag brimming with the differencing dollars tucked behind the rafters in the boathouse on the northern flank of Questa-by-the-Sea?
Nah, it was just a trick of the light.
At one time the CSD may have controlled the Pool fund. There was even a question if the monies were colored such that they could be used to lubricate lawyers.
At one time there was an attempt to get the Estero Pool going by an organization, even including a table at the Farmers market, and a presentation to LOCAC. But, it was opined that the funds previously collected could not be used as they were intended for Los Osos.
Should anyone in Los Osos be concerned, they can ask LOCAC for an update.

"In my youth, I cared much about such things. But now, having been vetted, whetted, whittled and wetted by experience, I leave poolish obsessions far behind."

I'll ask again: What's the 501(c)3 number for LOCO, and the Los Osos Pool Association, and the Celebrate Los Osos, and, and, and, whatever iterations Pandora's using to collect money. There's eithe one umbrella organizaiton under which all these other groups are formally aligned with as "project groups" or "committee groups" or some such or if they're separate groups they need a separate number, Board, bylaws, mission statements, etc.

So what's the number(s) and where's the money? It's such a simple question.

Pandora Nash-Karner will disclose the nature of her 501(c)(3)s when Mitt Romney releases ten years of tax returns.
