Those are some fine looking beans!! Particularly when shown off on a red plate with appropriate cutlery, placemat and napkin! Hard to believe that we have enough sun in LO to grow beautiful stuff like that!
---------------------------------------------------------------
Now.........on to another topic, and I hope that Ann will indulge me here, being off topic to beans, although the beans above rise to a higher hill that what I’m about to impart here.
TWIMC and to quell nutty conspiracy theories engendered by Ron as to my sudden absence:*
I was in Europe. On a ship floating down the Danube, and on land a few days in Budapest and also in Prague, plus out all day seeing other cities in Austria and Germany. So I didn't blog. I either:
• Had a rotten Internet connection; or I
• Was busy seeing wonderful sights or meeting interesting people; or I
• Was too jet lagged when I got back to rise to a response on passé, mean and completely unnecessary blogger’s opinions.
Why all this venom against Ann? It is pointless, vicious and just stupid sounding. Get over it already!!!! OK, so what, she thought we could get a better sewer with Lisa, Julie, Chuck, Steve and John. HALF THE TOWN THOUGHT THAT TOO! And most people didn't get their ideas from this blog either! Just go to Slo-Span and listen to the shaky, hopeful voices on the October 2005 meetings of the CSD. That was the reality then. A shame the process was so badly fumbled and we didn't get the 218 vote that we had asked for and could have had, but oh, well.
The CDOs are OVER and they were way stupid to begin with, as we ALL did NOT get one. All of us or none of us is how it should have been! Can't we just move on to a relevant topic? Beans seem like a good start!
*To quote Ron,
Speaking of the person(s) posting as "Lynette Tornatzky:" They post thousands upon thousands of deliberately misleading Los Osos sewer-related comments over the years, here, and on my blog, slamming me and everything I report. THEN, I expose, just a couple months back, how local politicians like Supervisor Gibson, along with other left-leaning members of the Board of Supervisors, pay some Karl Rove-type weasel named Tom Fulks (and his employees?) tens of thousands of dollars to sneak around behind-the-scenes, especially on the Internet and (at least attempt to) destroy anyone (especially media-types) that don't ALWAYS portray Tom's clients in a favorable light, and then POOF! "Lynette" immediately falls of the sewer comment radar. I find that fact, and that time-line, VERRRRRY interesting, and very telling.
Good grief Ron, good, good, grief.
Toonces, since you were out of town, here's your "Make Up Paper" reply. That that's it, time to get back to . . . Beans.
This is the 2nd round of beans. They grow like crazy and it's hard to keep up with harvesting them. That surprised me. The peas I planted are having a hard time sprouting, which is weird since I figured they'd be happier in the coastal cooler weather.
Once everyone dies back, will reconfigure the raised beds and add more amendments. Too much of it is pure sand so will need some work.
I am surprised that we have a long enough stretch of sun to get two crops!
I was at a friend's house yesterday and they have a luxuriant garden (very thrifty water people however) and I noticed that the soil was heavily amended to retain moisture. The sand is fine for natives (duh), Mediterranean plants, South African plants, etc. but as with my next door neighbor who grows tomatoes (tomatoes!), she has stuffed her raised beds with compost.
I have added to some potted plants some of those expanding crystals which become jelly-like "Soil Moist," and the kitty litter looking stuff, "Terra Green" (to in-the-ground plants too) to keep the water in the pots which dry out too fast.
I have grown edible stuff at prior houses, but was daunted by the insect life they acquired, and so quickly too. I hope to never squash another tomato worm....ugh!!
I LOVE green beans.
Lucky you, Ann.
Me? After two years of futility, I finally managed a bumper crop of butternut squash this year.
Lucky me!
The person(s) posting as "Lynette Tornatzky" writes:
"... on to another topic, and I hope that Ann will indulge me here..."
First, really? You choose here -- a post about green beans -- to finally respond to that question from three months ago?
Uh, did you oar down the Danube? Fer gawd's sake, mix in a boat with an engine next time.
Anyhoot... I'm glad you finally responded: Sooooo, you're NOT getting a taste of that tens of thousands of dollars that Bruce is paying Tom?
Damn, girl(s), you're being HAD!
I mean, you, according to you, do for free, what Bruce pays Tom (and his employees?) tens of thousands of dollars to do: Sneak around on the Internet and post thousands upon thousands upon thousands of comments -- anywhere and everywhere (well, anywhere that still allows you to) -- that gush about Tom's clients, and slam any media type that doesn't portray Tom's clients (i.e.: Bruce) in a favorable light.
If I were you, the person(s) posting as "Lynette Tornatzky," I'd be SO pissed.
Bruce is using you. Sounds like he owes you A LOT of money.
See? Unlike Tom and Bruce, I got your back, 'toons. You're welcome.
Green beans rock! Out.
Lynette, you asked, "Why all this venom against Ann?" Well, look no further than the prevalence and acceptance of Ron Crawford's inane comments.
I hold Ann responsible for festering this counterculture of irrational obstructionism in Los Osos. Ann played an integral role in the hysteria, which continues to rear its ugly head in the community.
Forget how she maintains her blog. Look at how low she sets the bar when it comes to deciding what is and isn't tangible information. She regularly promotes Crawford as the guy who has this definitive account of the "Hideous Sewer Wars," but he's actually a mentalcase. Go figure.
Anon 11:52,
The festering from both sides is over and done. I think the WORST mistake was NOT holding the 218, where the sewer would have gone out of town and the SRF money would have continued, avoiding the bankruptcy. Granted a lot of good work and much time was lost (while our aquifers degraded) and far too much money went to lawyers, but all that is over and done and we are getting a sewer for only $30 million more. Ugh, I know, and I feel especially bad for the people who trusted the Lisa Board and were so badly let down. Talk about driving the less affluent out of town, you really couldn't do much better than they did. At least the County sewer payments will be lower and that is a help, even though the total bill is higher. Terrible things happened, Tri-W was my choice for a sewer and I did't get that, but it is OVER.
Really, the hysteria only exists in a few people, the regulars at the BOS and the ones that show up at CSD meetings, all incensed and frothing over nothing. In any case, if you want something done differently, you make nice, be persuasive, make good arguments. I don't think negatively harping at people gets you very far, especially when you are wrong and won't listen to the other side. (That is why I appreciated SharkInlet so much. He was never nasty, but precisely logical.)
Anyway, Ann is NOT harping along with the sewer crazies. You DO need to notice that. She isn't at the BOS. The RWQCB was wrong, too. We all should have gotten CDOs or NOVs, the SAME thing.
And Ron is just pure entertainment. Look how he made up a whole story about me out of my absence? Great fiction writing and so hilarious! Look at it that way! I hardly ever go over to his site anymore, so if something LO crops up, Ann gives us a heads up. I met Ron in person once. He is not at all like the persona that he projects here. He was really nice and he had his dogs with him, and they were really sweet and well cared for. But his conclusions on things.....shaky ground! And I have no idea what happened on Ann's blog 3 months ago that I didn't answer!
Seriously, I wanted to add, but ran out of time, had to get to Pilates, Ron's comment is hysterical, Uh, did you oar down the Danube? Fer gawd's sake, mix in a boat with an engine next time.
Come on peeps, THAT is a funny line!
I have received no money for writing and DON'T want any, I don't want to be beholden. Plus, no one offered any (it wouldn't have mattered). PLUS, I only write under my own name, so how many comments can one person make anyway? Thousands? Thousands???Not even possible!
Beans rock, especially green ones, although I am quite fond of Limas! My parents had a friend with the name, "Lyman," probably dead by now, so I can confess this here. My sis and I called him "Lima" behind his back and laughed like crazy. Hope I don't rot in hell for that.
Also, a word of caution, Like many legumes, the seemingly innocent lima bean should not be eaten raw – doing so can be lethal. (And who wants to die in such an ignoble way as death by lima bean?)
Read more if you are so inclined: http://www.mnn.com/food/healthy-eating/photos/8-poisonous-foods-we-commonly-eat/1-lima-beans#ixzz3G6jTqjrI
Anon: A few points. If Ron is "inane" then why the fury at his "inane" comments? You don't get furious at "inane." "Inane" is inane. That's why they call it "inane." And there isn't any hysteria in the community. The sewer issue was a hotly contested political issue with many sides and many people holding and speaking out with many different opinions. The sewer project was also unlucky because it suffered from some major disastrous missteps at critical times (Ron's documented most of them. )but when the county took over, it was a done deal. Over. (Especially now that the RWQCB has freed the Los Osos 45. And Toonces is right: that crazy move was wrong, wrong, wrong and can be added to the list of major disastrous missteps at critical times.)
All the rest, as I have repeatedly written here, is history. Ancient history, interesting history, debated history, crazy history, but history. And a handful of citizens who repeatedly show up at BOS meetings to exercise their constitutionally protected right of comment and the two or three raging, hysterical Anonnymice who repeatedly show up here to fume and fuss don't constitute "a community."
And as for keeping the bar so low? Hey, that low bar allowed you and a few other Mice to repeatedly show up here anonymously to make up crap and rudely chew on my and other people's ankles, so it's churlish to now complain about low bars. Seriously.
Toonces: Lima beans, raw? Who knew? I'm sure that sound I hear roaring across the land is the sound of 10 billion cheering small children who will now try to convince their Moms that even cooked lima beans will kill them.
Re soil amendment, Hope from Los Osos Valley nursery said that adding cornstarch to the soil can help hold water. It's not cheap so I'd bet it would only make sense to use it in pots. But yeah, if you're trying veggies, need lots of compost. (Los Osos Valley nursery has a huge pile of mushroom compost they sell. Bring your own buckets. Stuff's pure gold for any plants. Also, can check with tree trimmers and see if they'll drop off a huge truckload of beautiful, clean chipped up trees which can be piled high all around you lo-water plants. IF we get any rain, that mulch will help keep the moisture in.
Ron:" Congrats on the squash harvest. Love butternut. My dogs do too. Steam it up and add it to their kibble.
Lynette, I respectfully disagree with you on one point. I believe quite a few people, in Los Osos, have not moved on. A lot of these people fall squarely within Ann's sphere of influence. I think your husband adequately described them as the "whiners and complainers" recently. However, I agree with your general point that it is OVER. Based on the general facts, the sewer is here. The deal is done.
However, Lynette, you would not be repeatedly attacked by the "entertainment" from Santa Margarita if people like him moved on. Heck, he's not a Los Osos resident anymore, but sadly, people still believe him, including Ann. That's one out of several reasons why Ann has no integrity as a writer and as a person.
Here's another reason why you have no integrity, Ann. I'm one anonymous, an individual. There are other anonymous who have made some rather defamatory remarks that I personally don't associate myself with. However, you're satisfied with making sweeping generalizations about the anonymous -- as if to say, if one anonymous violates decency, everyone else does.
Ann, I can happily furnish documentation to substantiate my claims. Since you think I'm one of those who has "made up crap," please tell me what claims I supposedly made that need to be verified.
Oh, that's right. You can't. You can't operate beyond generalities. I see. Don't ever change, Ann. Don't ever change.
Ann writes:
"Love butternut. My dogs do too. Steam it up and add it to their kibble."
That's funny, and I'll give it a try. I'll mix the steamed butternut chunks with the cut-up (then gently warmed, of course) meat goodies that I already add to his kibble. [spoiled dog]
'toons writes:
"I have received no money for writing and DON'T want any..."
Well, that confirms it: You're being had, 'toons.
Tom Fulks is hogging all of those tens of thousands of dollars of Bruce Gibson's campaign contributors' money all to himself.
Just when I thought that deal -- where local politicians launder gobs of money to Tom, which, in turn allows him to skirt official PAC regulations -- couldn't get any sweeter for Tom, we now find out that he even has other people doing what he gets paid FAT bucks to do, for free.
SWEEEEET deal for Tom.
Now I just have one question: How do I get Tom's job? [Hey, Bruce, I'm WAY more Internet savvy than Tom. Why don't you launder those tens of thousands of dollars to me, instead? I'd make a MUCH better "evil genius in the back room." You have my email address.]
Of course, I also have to wonder, when Tom drags Shirley Bianchi with him to the BOS podium to publicly destroy his clients' critics, is Shirley even aware that the politicians that Tom is addressing at that moment, are paying him tens of thousands of dollars TO publicly destroy his clients' critics, as their Karl Rove-type weasel?
For example, at the 2/26/13 Supervisors meeting, where Tom and Shirley show up to "comment on recent speaker conduct during public comment." -- "speaker conduct" that was critical of Tom's client, of course -- did Shirley know that that is exactly what Tom gets paid to do... by the same politicians that he is addressing?
'toons, do me a favor, ask Pandora's former Supervisor puppet, Shirley, if she knew that people like Supervisor Gibson pay Tom tens of thousands of dollars to sneak around and destroy people that don't portray Tom's clients in a favorable light, when she showed up with him at that meeting.
I'm very interested in knowing the answer to that question, and Shirley will never answer it for me.
Thanks!
What the F... was that comment about, as there was no coherent thought?
Mental illness is a problem in this country.
Centered in Santa Margarita!
Anon, 10:18 AM, October 14, those who have not moved on need less attention! There are so few of them! They are annoying to be sure, but in the grand scheme of things, they are irrelevant! The way to overwhelm them is to flood the room with sane people. I have seen them in an unfamiliar room with people they do not know. They wilt! Or if they spout, they suddenly "get" that they are wayyyyy out of place. Or if they are semi-familiar with where they are, they speak respectfully as they know if they don't, they know they will look like a**holes. No idea how to make this happen. And I disagree with your assessment of Ann. She has moved on! Which "crap" is yours that you can substantiate? Hard to tell which anon is which. I am curious to know!
Ron on 1:01PM October 14. Your entire post doesn't amount to a hill of—you guessed it—BEANS. Tune up your brain and think for a moment. Think real hard. Why do you suppose people don't answer you when you write them letters!? Your imaginings on Fulks, etc., etc., etc., is cut from the same cloth as your imaginings as to why I was not posting. Try writing a novel. I'd bet you'd do pretty well.
And, given your dislike for various people in your blog postings, would you really like to write nice things about them and get paid to do it? Granted, there are icky parts to every job, such as removing caterpillars from string bean plants. But at least you are not compromising your stated beliefs in doing that.
Toonces sez:"Which "crap" is yours that you can substantiate? Hard to tell which anon is which. I am curious to know!"
Which Mouse is which. Hmmmm, Good point.
'toons writes:
"Your imaginings on Fulks, etc., etc., etc., is cut from the same cloth as your imaginings as to why I was not posting."
Well, again, I just found it a little cowinky-dinky that you NEVER miss commenting on a sewer post (especially when Ann links back to mine) -- thousands and thousands and thousands of comments, year, after year, after year, NEVER missing... not once... ever -- THEN, I post a story that exposes how Bruce pays his little "evil geniuses in the back room" tens of thousands of dollars to do exactly what you do, and then POOF!, you immediately vanish, even though you commented on Ann's blog immediately before, and immediately after she linked back to my story.
So, you know, yeah: Quite a little cowinky-dink that you vanish from commenting on my stories the instant I hit the "publish" button on THAT excellent story, is all I'm sayin'.
And, if you could read, 'toons, you would have noticed that a HUGE part of my story is this: BECAUSE local, weasily politicians, like Bruce Gibson, launder tens of thousands of dollars to Tom, he never has to register his so-called "PAC," and therefore he doesn't have to file official 460 Forms that would (or, at least, should) show who HE pays, and therefore, because of that laundering, I can never verify if crap like this:
"I have received no money for writing and DON'T want any..."
... from you, 'toons, is actually true.
See? SWEEEEEET deal for Tom, and his employees, thanks directly to Bruce's campaign contributors' laundered money.
So, now, I REALLY want to know: When Shirley Bianchi appeared with Tom at that 2/26/13 Supervisors meeting to "comment on recent speaker conduct during public comment," and, of course, slam Bruce's critics, did Shirley know that Bruce pays Tom tens of thousands of dollars to do exactly that? That that is actually Tom's job, and Bruce is paying him BIG BUCKS to do sneaky stuff like that?
If Bruce and Tom did NOT inform Shirley of that fact -- and almost certainly, they didn't -- that means that weasily, and ZERO-ethics Tom, and weasily, and ZERO-ethics Bruce, played ol' Shirl -- they USED her as a pawn in their silly, little "strategy" -- and that's just sad and pathetic.
Good lord, just when I thought I couldn't have a lower opinion of Bruce Gibson.
Pa-thetic.
Well, no. Ann has not moved on. If she did, she would stop promoting Ron, who is really a member of the fringe element. The conversation would be dropped all together. That hasn't happened.
Lynette, I know you appreciate Ann, but she's not a good person. Not an honest person. When people ask her questions, she either doesn't answer the question or she chooses to answer a question that was never asked in the first place. When people point out instances where she played an integral role, she refuses to take responsibility. Over and over again. No more comments. Screen the comments. Discussion over.
Now, she's accused me, this anonymous person, of making up "crap." She still hasn't mentioned what I made up. "Which Mouse is which. Hmmmm, Good point." No, not "good point." The point was: she grouped me with other anonymous users, and said I (out of many) have made up "crap." That's an intellectually poor argument for obvious reasons.
Playing the guessing game with anonymous is not a smart thing to do. People do it. It's a bad habit. It's a habit worth kicking. The fact that she resorts to this childish tactic instead of debating the facts is undeniable proof that Ann has no integrity.
Does anyone have an idea of what ever it is that Crawford is trying to say?
Ron says,
I just found it a little cowinky-dinky that you NEVER miss commenting on a sewer post....
Well Ron, try to justify all you like your boo-boo assumptions about my blog silence, but had you asked me....my e-mail still worked more or less, and the address is available on my sewer blog, which you should know...you wouldn't have had to make a journalistic mistake!
Wasn't Tom Fulks Bruce Gibson's Campaign Manager? Don't they usually collect a paycheck? What has that to do with a PAC?
Anon 11:20 AM, maybe Ann finds Ron entertaining? Without his silliness we would not be writing here now would we and I am having a pretty good time! At this point that is all it is anyway, silliness, or creative writing if you will.
If you want to see investigative journalism, look at Cal Coast Fraud on Facebook or at http://calcoastfraud.tumblr.com
I will point this out again, no one knows who made up what when you are an Anonymous! Maybe you can help us out here by listing some of the "crap" that you did not write? And we can filter out those posts from yours? Can you just get some made up name to use instead of Anonymous, then Ann (or any of the other readers) will know that the "crap" part is NOT yours!
I beg to differ, Ann IS a good person! I have certainly disagreed with her on many, many points over the years, anyone can see that, but I don't find that any reason to label her "not a good person!"
Anon 11:20 sez: "Playing the guessing game with anonymous is not a smart thing to do. People do it. It's a bad habit. It's a habit worth kicking. The fact that she resorts to this childish tactic instead of debating the facts is undeniable proof that Ann has no integrity."
Anon 11:20, you need to get over yourself. One reason I lump Anons together is because they are all of a piece: NONE of them exist. They're ALL fake constructs. Which is why I repeatedly warn all visitors to this comment section to NEVER believe anything Anonnymice have to say. Absolutely nothing. Ever. And that includes you, Anon 11:20.
If you find Anonymicery a "bad habit," then why not stand up and introduce yourself, put your real name behind your opinions. Ron does, Toonces does, I do.
This would certainly make the comment section easier to navigate, but I still reserve the right to dump any of you guys if you start heading towards Stupid, or for any reason at all for that matter. (And, no, Anon, you are not the arbiter of what and who I dump. I make that decision and if you don't like it, I've already offered you a solution to that issue: Get your own blog.)
Toonces writes: "Anon 11:20 AM, maybe Ann finds Ron entertaining? Without his silliness we would not be writing here now would we and I am having a pretty good time! At this point that is all it is anyway, silliness, or creative writing if you will."
That's the most interesting thing about the Sewer Crazies. I can post any number of posts on all kinds of topics, both serious or silly, and there will be zero or maybe 1-2 comments. But, like clockwork, if even one Sewerite or Sewer Crazy Mouse shows up and posts a single comment, BLAM, the word apparently goes out and soon the place is infested with Anons ramping up their various crotchets and furies and stupidities. (This pertains even to a posting that's entirely benign. I posted a photo and story on my new stove and some pathetic Sewer Troll (Anon, of course,) showed up to say stupid, pointless, mean things, so I dumped him. But, I mean, a stove, fer Chrissakes? Seriously?)
It's absolutely fascinating. Pathological, but fascinating. What kind of person spends hours . . . days . . monitoring a blog they hate, run by a person they despise, then then get all huffy when I refuse to play their games or take them seriously. Seriously, people, get a life.
When I link to whatever Ron is posting, in case you haven't noticed, I very often note that "Ron is having waaaayyyy too much fun." And he is. And clearly, Toonces is also having waaaayyy too much fun. But oddly, not the Mice. I wonder why.
Taking Lynette's advice. New name.
Anonymous very much exist. If you're familiar with the Occupy movement, you see the physical manifestation of that. Of course, the anonymous are a decentralized group that boast a variety of viewpoints, but they definitely exist. Also, by stating no identity at all, there's no fake construct to begin with unless the anonymous presumes a specific identity that has no association with who they really are.
I never said "Anonymice" is a bad habit. Where did you get that from?
However, I do believe anonymity has been abused by sadistic and narcissistic trolls. Like me, a lot of anonymous post because of retaliation concerns. People like SharkInlet have most certainly been retaliated against after his identity was revealed. Then again, his nickname was associated with his personal YouTube channel, which featured his real name.
Also, see what's going on with Lynette? Because she made the choice to post as herself (good for her), she's been subjected to a flurry of anonymous bile about her, her family, and now subjected to Crawford's "entertaining" and creepy musings about Tom Fulks, Bruce Gibson and Shirley Bianchi.
You should be grateful for having such a forgiving friend like Lynette. Your blog has been a hotbed for really vile attacks against her and others.
Gosh, I don't spend hours and days monitoring your blog. But one thing is true, I get huffy. I get huffy when a self-righteous blogger pretends to be an authority figure in Los Osos, and suckers families out of thousands of dollars, chasing pipe dreams in the form of frivolous lawsuits and promoted efforts by Gail McPherson.
It goes to show: when you bilk sick and weary homeowners of their nest egg, move to Sandpoint, Idaho.
Dear Mad Hatter, you didn't go as far as you could have. Shark is a friend of mine, as is Lynette, and I seen both verbally pillared and physically threatened by the obstructionists masquerading as simply "move the sewer" advocates.
Ann Calhoun is entitled to her blog, but she should also understand she espouses a double standard. She should understand that some of those who have followed her lead through this blog and the lawsuit have been and still threaten those they vehemently oppose. There are still a few who desperately are opposed to any sewer or even the new location out of town. Ann's position on this blog and in her public comments continue to give those folks the poison they seek to fight any progress to bring LO a modern waste water system. Ann has never acknowledged that the huge additional cost of the sewer rest squarely on her shoulders. The threats to those she spurs on is still her responsibility.

"... maybe Ann finds Ron entertaining? Without his silliness we would not be writing here now would we... "
Uh, 'toons, I realize that you have no memory, but this is an extra fun example: If you scroll up to the top of these comments, you'll see that it was actually YOU that chose this comment section -- a post about green beans -- to finally address how you (apparently, according to you) do for free, what Bruce pays Tom tens of thousands of dollars to do.
Remember?
'tooncie also writes:
"Wasn't Tom Fulks Bruce Gibson's Campaign Manager? Don't they usually collect a paycheck? What has that to do with a PAC?"
Oh, I get it. Now it makes perfect sense: 'toons has no idea what it's talking about, because it doesn't know how to click on a link, and read, and therefore, it never read my excellent story.
Here, 'toons, lemme walk you through the process:
See, when the words are blue, it's called a link, and when you move your computer mouse (that's that little thing with a chord plug into your keyboard, and the keyboard is... uh... nevermind), over the blue words and "click" on the words, and it will take you to something different on your web browser.
It's a really cool thing. Here, give it a try:
http://sewerwatch.blogspot.com/2014/08/san-luis-obispo-county-supervisor-bruce.html
I'm tellin' ya 'toons, if you REALLY are not getting a taste of those tens of thousands of dollars that Bruce is paying Tom, to do exactly what you do, you are being SO had.
I kinda feel sorry for you and Shirley. Bruce and Tom have made you two their beeeothces.
I also get a feeling that if Shirley ever found out that Bruce and Tom played her -- they used her -- at that 2/26/13 Supervisors meeting, she'd be SOOOOO pissed.
'toons writes:
"... look at Cal Coast Fraud on Facebook..."
Hey, 'toons, Karen told me that you are now "barred" from commenting at Cal Coast News, after receiving "multiple warnings" (which I find hilarious, by the way.)
Just curious -- what were you warned "multiple times" about?
Why did they kick you off of their site?
Ron, your writing style is so dense to get through with all of you self congratulations and extraneous words, I usually find myself giving up before I get to the end. As I have put links in my posts and have put up websites, which surely you must know, a primer in this stuff is just silly looking.
Basically it was Spork who barred me, at Karen Velie's request I now see. I only posted facts countering Julie's and Tom Salmon's assertions, and since this didn't jive with Karen's political views put forth by the articles by Julie and Tom, my free speech was cut off from CCN. I am one among many.
You forget that Shirley sort of hand-picked Bruce, so I doubt that she would feel herself used. She is Way-y-y-y-y too smart for that.
Ron, I'll try saying it another way so perhaps you will understand what I am saying. We all don't do things just for money, especially payment for opinions we hold that we like to express. I don't like to be beholden. And this is not a "job" for me.
Mad Hatter, thanks for getting a name! Not only do the sewer nuts oppose the new sewer, they are also hoping to tank the Basin Plan with hopes for a "better" version. Sound familiar? Fortunately, these people are few in number.
Exactly, Lynette.
You have two LOCSD candidates who basically want to eliminate the ISJ, which has been in development for years now, and replace it with... with... some sort of plan that nobody knows.
It's just like the sewer. "We have a plan! It's going to be... no, wait. That's not going to work. Or how about... no, that won't work either. Oh well. Let the County handle it!"
There. I just summarized Chuck Cesena and Keith Swanson's campaign platform. You're welcome.
Anonymous 9:56 sez:" Ann has never acknowledged that the huge additional cost of the sewer rest squarely on her shoulders."
Have you forgotten? The community voted for the recall, which really was a vote for an out-of-town project.(True, the vote was a close one but that's what elections are all about: listen to a variety of voices and opinions and points of view, then vote.) Later, the community survey conducted by the County showed that the majority of those who replied to the survey preferred this gravity/Out-of-town project over the step system. (Tri W site choice came in last.) Then the community voted to assess themselves for this Out-of-Town project.
That I was singlehandedly able to get the community to do this against their will only speaks to my awesome and fearful Svengali-like power over all Los Ososians.
Lynette sez:"Mad Hatter, thanks for getting a name! Not only do the sewer nuts oppose the new sewer, they are also hoping to tank the Basin Plan with hopes for a "better" version. Sound familiar? Fortunately, these people are few in number."
And MadHatter sez:"Exactly, Lynette.

Like Anonymous (above) you guys seem to think "the sewer nuts" have vast powers over this community. They don't. They're just one more voice, among others, just like the voices of Mad Hatter, "Anonymouse" and you, Lynette. If you dislike what "the nuts" have to say, and they're running for office, then vote against them. Simple.
Mad Hatter (9:34, 10-16) sez:"I never said "Anonymice" is a bad habit. Where did you get that from?"
I never said "Mad Hatter" said anything about mice and habits.
My original comment (6:34 10-16) was addressed to Anonymous 11:20 (10/15) who said: "Playing the guessing game with anonymous is not a smart thing to do. People do it. It's a bad habit. It's a habit worth kicking. . . . "
My reference was a specific reply to what Anon. 11:20 (10/15) said. Since your (9:34) comment came 3 hours after mine, (and there were no other comments in between) it seems like you clearly thought my 6:26 posting was addressed to you? So, does that mean you're Anon 11:20?
Great post Ann! I suddenly see that you have been assigned the role of Pandora! The all powerful! Who knew a blog, read by a fraction of the community (no offense!) could be SO powerful! But fear always inflates THE THREAT to monumental proportions!
I am so glad that you have articulated the real platform of Chuck and Keith, Mad Hatter. But with one correction: the Los Osos Sustainability Group knows FAR more, or so THEY think, about what needs to be done. They HAVE a PLAN! Don't forget, they tried to get the Coastal Development Permit REVOKED two years after it was issued. Can you imagine after the sewer was poised to begin in 2012, they wanted to STOP it and retool the water issues to fit their agenda? Can you imagine the further ONGOING damage to the basin and the time that would take to re-do all of that even if they were right, which they are not? Could they not SEE that?
I think the community spoke, or at least those who chose to vote. And if you don't vote, your forfeit your voice.
My question for candidate Chuck, which everyone OUGHT to be asking is: Why didn't your board vote to let the community have that 218 vote? THIS was the sticking point with the Blakeslee Compromise. The State said you can have the SRF money to move the sewer out of town if you hold a 218 vote. And THEY DID NOT (they had even agreed to continue with the gravity pipes)! There. We could have had out-of-town a WHOLE lot sooner and gotten the gravity pipes the community actually wanted. Yet NO VOTE! Considering the LACK of a 218 vote on Tri-W was such a HUGE issue, what happened???? Chuck's judgement needs to be examined for that decision.

"As I have put links in my posts and have put up websites, which surely you must know, a primer in this stuff is just silly looking."
Way to get the joke, 'toons.
'toons writes:
"Basically it was Spork who barred me, at Karen Velie's request I now see. I only posted facts countering Julie's and Tom Salmon's assertions, and since this didn't jive with Karen's political views put forth by the articles by Julie and Tom..."
Jeez... so many extraneous words, but I digress...
'toons, yesterday, I actually asked Karen if you were lying about that, and, whadaya know... surprise, surprise (uh, 'toons, that's me joking there -- see, by writing "surprise, surprise" I'm using irony as a humor device to show how completely UNsurprising what I'm about to write is), 'toons is lying.
Karen told me, "I was not involved in the moderating. The moderator said she ('toons) repeatedly violated commenting guidelines. Comments are not bared because they disagree with another commenter. That is incorrect."
HIGHlarious.
So, 'toons, not only did you get banned from commenting on CCN, you now lie about the reasons why you got kicked off.
'toons, quick question: At what point do you start to smell your overwhelming stink of Pandora-style, "behavior based marketing" bullshit, paid political operative?
I mean, I expose how Bruce pays Tom tens of thousands of dollars to sneak around and 1) Attack Bruce's critics [#1 of which is Julie Tacker], 2) (At least attempt to) destroy, through deliberate, made-up discrediting, any media-type that publishes something critical of Bruce, and 3) over-the-top cheerlead Bruce, and 'toons, that's EXACTLY what you do... thousands and thousands and thousands of comments -- anywhere and everywhere you can -- that do EXACTLY what Bruce pays Tom tens of thousands of dollars to do.
THEN, I show how you actually got banned from other sites for doing your Pandora-style, paid political operative, "behavior based marketing" bullshit, and then you lie about WHY you got kicked off.
'toons, I already know that you will never admit to your overwhelming stink of paid political operative -- because that's the nature of a paid political operative -- but I'm going to be cool here, and give you a heads-up: You are now banned from commenting on TWO sites.
If you ever post on SewerWatch again, I will immediately delete it. (And I think you now know that, and that's why you choose HERE to comment [a post about green beans] instead of on my blog, where this discussion would be 100-percent on topic.]
Oh, and Ann, Jake LOVES the steamed butternut on his kibble. Of course, I also had it mixed with cut-up, then gently warmed, tri-tip chunks, so, you know, he's kind of a pig, and might not have even noticed the butternut.
But he ate it : -)
Toonces: yes. Open posting time ran out. I'll finish with these two, then time to this endless, pointless squabble on.
Toonces: Yup, that 218 vote was another one of those Key Moments where things could have been righted and the train set back on the track, but didn't happen. And, yes, I truly am the most powerful person in Los Osos. One wave of my magic wand . . .
And Ron, canned pumpkin, cooked squash, sweet potatoes, lots of fiber and vitamins and my dogs love 'em.
