Then, tentatively set, is a “town hall” type meeting here in Los Osos on [CORRECTION: MAY 14th) most likely at the Community Center in the evening. The criteria for screening will have been completed by the TAC and can be presented to the community.

The TAC meetings will then continue as usual with more Community Town Hall Type meetings scheduled as needed.

Yep, Still Dog Food Alert

For those of you with pooches and kitties, yet another pet food company – this time Del Monte – has pulled some of their products. So, you’d best keep checking www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/petfood.html for updates. Or google in Pet Food Recall & etc. and keep checking. To date, they think they’ve isolated the shipment of wheat from China they suspect is the problem, and tracked it to the various companies. But, there may be other shoes to drop.

Put It On Your Calendar

If you want an absolutely glorious evening of music, plan to attend the concert described in the PR below. The venue is the wonderful chapel that the St. Benedict’s congregation dismantled then moved from Camp Roberts and beautifully restored (it’s located across from the Memorial Park on Los Osos Valley Road). The acoustics are wonderful, the venue intimate without being crowded, and on a spring evening, you couldn’t find a nicer place for a lovely concert by a very talented group of singers:

“The superb University of Redlands Chapel Singers present a choral concert at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, April 26, 7:30 p.m. Free-will offering to assist the students on their California tour [They also have CDs of their concerts for sale]

“Classical, modern, spirituals, a barbershop quartet with the concert ending in candleight with The Office of Compline, medieval, monastic singing, accompanied by hand chimes.

“St. Benedict’s is located at the corner of Los Osos Valley and Clark Valley Roads. Information, 528-0654”

Concert This Sunday

Don’t know if they’ve sold out, but the Congregation Beth David has been presenting a series of lecture/concerts tracing the contributions of Jewish immigrants to American music, from Tin Pan Alley, to Jazz and Swing, to Hollywood Musicals, and to the Classical canon.

This Sunday, April 8th, at 2 pm, they’ll be presenting “Jewish Folk Music, including Hebrew, Ladino and Yiddish (Klezmer) songs, Dances and Prayers.”

Wooo! Klezmer music. Love it! The concerts will be held at the beautiful new temple at the corner of Los Osos Valley Road and Foothill Blvd. 11080 LOVR. Call 544-0760 to see if they’ve got any tickets left(tickets are $20 each) or take a chance and show up. Great opportunity to see the new “green” building and beautiful grounds.

So, If The Weather’s Fine or Even If It’s Not, STOP READING THIS BLOG, SHUT OFF YOUR COMPUTER AND GO OUTDOORS AND ENJOY A FINE SPRING DAY. WALK THE DOG. WALK YOUR KIDS. WALK YOURSELF.

Thank you.

Bev. De Witt-Moylan here:

Here is some info from Leo Grillo of D.E.L.T.A. Rescue (www.deltarescue.org)in response to a question about the pet food poisoning situation:

"I spoke with my friend, Dr. Marty Dennis, about this shocking news. He said that the food his company is shipping is very safe, and that their orders are way up because of this event.

"Dr. Dennis also explained that they have an in-house lab at their plant -- and that they test their packaged food constantly, looking for any contamination.

"That food is the Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance. At this point, without a distributor for our own cat and dog food, I can only recommend that you look for this brand at large pet shops or supermarkets."

I hope this info helps.

I fed this food to my own dogs and found it at Farm Supply in SLO. They make kibble, as well as dried "sausages" that I cut up and used as treats.

Here's the rest of the info on Leo Grillo's wonderful organization.
