Your Sunday Poem

By Ted Kooser from his book, “Delights & Shadows”

Pegboard

It has been carefully painted
with the outlines of tools
to show us which belongs where,
auger and drawknife,
claw hammer and crosscut saw,
like the outlines of hands on the walls
of ancient caves in France,
painted with soot mixed with spit
ten thousand years ago
in the faltering firelight of time,
hands borrowed to work on the world
and never returned.

it's springtime and the joker flies on the wing of a bee.
man plays tricks with time and tries to save the daylight.

there's nothing quite like the cheshire smile of a new moon.....

Where we are going,
Everything goes
Where we'll end up?
Nobody knows.
The wind blows
The sea flows
And nobody knows.

people come, people go...
winds change course but always blow...
the sun will rise, the sun will set...
truth and love will exist when there is nothing left....

in october, man will fall.
the man who knows everything told me so.
he tells stories of people and events he doesn't know or understand,
and calls himself a journalist.

headlines grant the attention of a false wisdom.......

cite my sources?
cite my sources??????????

scrambled, fried, poached, hard boiled, over easy, or sunnyside up.......

eat me.

do the voices in my head and the things that i see qualify as reliable sources?

Is there any other?

I didn't pay much heed to them until my thoughts were transformed by the smart pills. A good friend showed me where to find them..."follow the rabbits!
he said.

I'm wandering now. following rabbits.

Citing sources means, if the poem you posted was written by somebody, give his/her name. Ff it was written by you, heck, say so.

Mike Green said...

Uh, wouldn't that be a bit redundant?
I mean, after all, didn't I just write it,
and then, wouldn't I have to write that I just wrote it?
A lot of times I'd like to pretend that I didn't write something I did, would making up an author be OK?
Just too confusing.

Man, i'm still trying to pull my gut muscles back together from laughing so hard.
Sincerely, M
