Healed At Last?

Well, over at www.sewerwatch.blogspot.com, Ron Crawford has a few things to say about the "ReCreate Los Osos" organization that was formed to "heal Los Osos" and is now dead before it could get born, alas.  But Ron's too hard on Marshall Ochylski and Lou Tornatzy, the folks behind the "healing."  If Ron wishes punishment upon them, rest assured, they have suffered plenty since he writes that they're now dissolving that organization as a state non-profit.

As someone who spent about a year wandering in the virtual halls of Sacramento attempting to dissolve an uneeded Ca. nonprofit that was part of the off-leash dog park,  I can tell you those two are in for a nightmare.  I have never seen a more confusing process, full of wrong directions, unintelligible paperwork, forms returned with absolutely no reason given for returning them, futile phone calls, hair pulling frustration until I finally got ahold of a nice young man who in four sentences laid out what still needed to be done.  When I asked him why those instructions weren't included with the original dissolution packet, he was silent.

It was Byzantine bureaucracy at its worst and I would not wish it on my worst enemy.  So, good luck to those two.  In the meantime, it's all sunshine and happiness in Los Osos, so apparently this nonprofit, "ReCreate Los Osos" worked.  Mirable Dictu.

Speaking of The Odd Couple

If Healing Los Osos didn't quite work for you and you're still in need of a good laugh, head up to The Pewter Playhouse in Cambria.  They're putting on a distaff version of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple," with Janice Peters and Sharyn Young playing the mismatched leads.  The play is running every Friday & Saturday at 7:30 pm through Sept 1 with Sunday Matinees on August 18, 25 and Sept 1 at 3 pm.  Cost is $15 on Fridays, or $20 on Sunday's, with Seniors and Students for $18. Reservations can be had at (805) 927-3877 or www.pewterploughplayhouse.org

The theatre, which has been there forever, has been recently gussied up, with new cunningly comfortable seats (modified directors chairs, each named by chair donors after a famous actor/actress.)  While the theatre is small, it's intimacy supports all that is best about the words "little theatre."

Next up on their playlist is "The Weir, A Ghost Story" by Conon McPherson (Sept 20 - Oct 27, a perfect ghostly play coincide with Cambria's Scarecrow Festival during the month of Oct.  Then they'll be doing "A Tuna Christmas," running Nov 22 - December 29.  If you haven't seen this satiric comedy, put that on your Christmas list to go-see.

And Now The Department of We're Not Surprised

A nice fat envelope from Bruce Gibson for Supervisor landed on my doorstep and when I opened it up I learned that our supervisor, who had, if memory served, petulantly declared he wouldn't be running for another term, said while he was embroiled in getting his girlfriend back into his office as his legislative assistant  (dare I presume that was part of the ploy to sway public opinion, as in, "Well, give him what he wants since this will be his last term and we'll just have to hold our noses for a while until he's gone?")

Well, if you're one of those holding your nose, you'd better start breathing because the first sentence of the letter was this, "My Dear Friend, I'm writing to let you know that I am seeing another term on the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors in 2014 -- and I'm going to need your help now more than ever."

And reading further it turns out that he needs your help because the well-funded Looney-Tune Tea Party/COLAB/Paranoid anti-Agenda 21 UN conspiracy promoters and climate-change deniers are at the gates and the County faces wrack and ruin unless he's elected. And, yes, he knows ". . . that my actions have hurt my family, my friends and my community.  I'm deeply sorry for that, and again, I apologize," but clearly he feels that without him the County will be overrun by special interests and land-grabbing despoiling Huns pouring in from the North County, let by the Terrifying Khan, Debbie Arnold, and her henchman, north and south. (More grapevines! More grapevines! Drain the aquifer!

Well, no mistake, the next few months and years are gonna get interesting, especially for the North County.  In typical SLO County fashion, they've known about the dropping water table for 20 plus years and did nothing.  (Not to mention the Regional Water Quality Control Board that should have been concerned about, uh, water quality, especially when the quality of the water starting turning into dust?)  So now the piper has arrived demanding to be paid.  And it ain't gonna be pretty.  I have two words for everyone involved in what's gonna go down now:  Los Osos.

In the meantime, for all the peasants in the path of the Khans, I can only say, relax, don't worry.  Who needs water when you have PomWonderful and wine to drink and Fiji water to bathe in?  Quel luxury!

BIG mistake!

See, Ann, your problem is that you are much too honest, and therefore, you missed a golden opportunity.

What you shoulda done with your nonprofit, is, instead of doing the right thing, and dissolving it, you should have just kept it around, that way you could have collected thousands in donations, and then hired yourself to do all of the promotion for your "non"-profit... for decades.

You also screwed up by actually BUILDING the dog park. Another BIG mistake.

Again, you shoulda just collected thousands in "donations," and then hired your friends and family... errrr... "consultants" to pop out things like a "Needs Analysis," and then, of course, you would have also needed a "Feasibility Study," then, also of course, after several years of collecting more "donations," you would have had to design the park, which would have required numerous architectural drawings from your "consultants" (read: friends/family), and none of that stuff is cheap, so you would have had to "pay reasonable compensation for services rendered," which would have required thousands more in donations.

And then you just do crap like that for a couple of decades, before you (quietly) say something like, "It turns out the site is incompatible. We need to start again, and then just repeat the above... over... and over... and over again.

Sure, you'll never have a dog park, but, so what. Apparently, that's not the point of a "non"-profit. The point is to make A LOT of profit, easily.

And if anyone ever says a word about the over-the-top-scammy way you go about your business, well, then, just hire a local marketing firm [wink, wink], that has VERY close ties to the local media, government, and law enforcement, to flat-out destroy those people through an unbelievably aggressive "behavior based marketing" "strategy," so, at least in the general public's eye (and the worse-than-nothing local so-called "media"'s eye) those critics are considered nothing more than "anti-dog park obstructionists," that deserve to be completely discounted.

Tooooo easy.

See? I learned from the best ; -)

Thanks for the link!

I’m always humored, Ann, at how you supply the crack to the Pandora junkie that is Ron Crawford. I couldn’t think of anyone less relevant to Los Osos than Ron Crawford. Jeez.

As far as Bruce Gibson is concerned, I guess it’s all a matter of perspective. I respect your hand-wringing and moral outrage over his affair, and even the seedy, though apparently very legal reinstatement of his assistant/mistress. The guy’s a cad, no doubt. But if I’m looking for someone really reprehensible, I look no further than Debbie Arnold. You may buy that folksy “I want to thank everyone for sharing, look at me a little ‘ol pre-school teacher who just wants to protect the little people from regulations and the mean ‘ol men who sit on this board” bullshit, but not me. The woman is a shill for Mike Brown and all those who would love to turn this county into Orange County North. The kind of tea-swilling, gun-totin’ regulation-hatin’ Constitution lovin’ U.N. hatin’anti-science “property rights” hack the Cal Coast News crowd adores. So I guess you take your pick. Moral outrage or the county’s version of Sarah Palin.

The best part about the next few months or years concerning the BOS for me will be to watch Arnold take the abuse coming her way from her constituency facing their own very real water issues, and still do her folksy shtick about how happy she is for everyone’s input. My guess is those 2 minute public comment time limits might look pretty good to her. I’m guessing also she’ll have even the obsessive, incessant complaint factory Julie Tacker falling out of love with her soon enough. It’s all gonna be a thing to behold I tell ya. Yee Ha cowboy.

Don't forget that Arnold believes in the UN Agenda 21 crappola. So sad. I guess that's what people in the North County want??

I heard a rumor that Julie was going to run for Supe, anyone else hear that?

Billy, I think you misunderstand my sentiments regarding the Zoo that's about to start in the BOS chambers. Poor Paso. Like I said, I have two words for them: Los Osos. And, yes, indeed, it's doubly delicious to see the Market Based Freedom! Freedom! Freedom crowd north of the grade grapple with the consequences of market based water -- it's gonna be one long God Bless The Child . . . PomWonderful, anyone? Doesn't get any better than this.

As for Ron, ya gotta admit, he's having waaaayyyy too much fun.

"The woman (Debbie Arnold) is a shill for Mike Brown and all those who would love to turn this county into Orange County North."

You can blame Jim Patterson for that.

After voting for Patterson five years ago, I voted for Debbie this time around -- the only Republican I've ever voted for in my life.

Why? After I exposed last year that Patterson, along with all of the other Supervisors, were aware that the Coastal Commission had an "enforcement case" against the pre-recall 2005 LOCSD board for "clearly violating" their Coastal Development Permit by ripping up the Tri-W site solely for political reasons, yet, ALL of the Supervisors just sat on their hands and did nothing for the property owners in the PZ when they were forced to pay to "restore" that "clear violation," well, that's just disgusting.

Here's Patterson, he KNOWS that there's an offical California Coastal Commission "enforcement" case against the pre-recall Los Osos CSD for illegally ripping up the Tri-W site, solely for political reasons, yet, instead of actually doing something, like pointing out how unfair it is for the PZ property owners to be paying for the 2005 LOCSD Board majority's disgusting (and illegal) failed political strategy, he just sits on his hands and does nothing, as the already fleeced PZ property owners are FORCED to pay (AGAIN!) to clean up Bruce's supporters' "clear violation"/disgusting political strategy.

That also applies to Gibson, as well. And Adam Hill, and Frank Mecham, for that matter. They ALL knew, and did nothing.

That is flat-out sickening. After what Patterson did there, along with other extremely shady things, I made damn sure I got to the polling booth to vote for Debbie.

So, when all the water's gone, and SLO County looks like Orange County, blame Jim Patterson, and Bruce Gibson, for being, well, at the risk of sounding too harsh, such scumbags.

It's so sad -- we're forced to vote for COLABer-types, because the slow-growth types are such scumbags.

However, now I'm starting to wondering if Debbie might be violating some sort of conflict of interest thingy, considering that the Arnolds are in the grape growing business, and she's voting on water/grape growing issues.

That doesn't sound right.

Wow. Ann hates on the Anonymous for being as repetitious and vengeful as her favorite columnist Ron.

This goes beyond hypocrisy, Ann. It's mental illness.

Sorry Ron, you're wrong again. There is no legal action ever proposed against the pre-recall CSD. However, the State still has an open item regarding the post-recall bankruptcy and the financial mismanagement that created the bankruptcy, including their legal advisors. It ain't over yet Lisa and Julie!

You want ME to blame Jim Patterson for YOUR tea bagging ways, Ron? Give me a break. You gotta grow a pair and stop justifying your vote with your typical obsessive misinformed victim schtick and instead defend your girl “Debbie.” Obviously your simpatico with many of her views, so brag on those as the source of your vote instead of blaming others. It’s beneath a scholar such as yourself.

As for scumbags, well, keep voting buddy. You can reach Freedom Works at www.freedomworks.org/

Billy, uh, maybe you'd better wait on Ron. It sounds like he's gotten a whiff of scumbaggery going on north of the grade so I suspect he'll have years worth of snooping and blogging ahead of him. And while Patterson, Gibson, et all sat on their hands, we'll see more of that as the Paso Water Wars heat up since Teabaggers don't have a lock on that sort of selective chicanery.

After all, Billy, it's . . . ALL Chinatown.

Really Ann......'scumbaggery', 'Teabaggers'....blogging such truly ugly words about your immediate neighbors (who, like you, deserve a little respect) is not civil; and displays a blind intolerance of folks unlike yourself.

Shame.

Ann writes:

"... he's gotten a whiff of scumbaggery going on north of the grade..."

My favorite "whiff" of that, is also one of my favorite local stories from ALL of last year, where I (of course) caught, and then exposed, how Jim Patterson's appointed Park Commissioner, Rick Mathews, used his position as a KCBX show host (Freedom Jazz Dance, Saturdays Noon - 2:00) to illegally promote a fundraiser for Patterson for Supervisor... on public radio.

Then, after I caught him doing that, and after KCBX GM, Frank Lanzone, admitted that Mathews had, indeed, violated FCC election rules, Mathews was forbidden (forbidden!) from mentioning the Patterson fundraiser on his next week's show, and was forced (forced!) to give "equal time" to Debbie by mentioning one of her fundraisers.

How great is THAT?

Jim Patterson's own Parks Commissioner was forced to give Debbie Arnold free air time.

HIGHlarious.

And that's the great story on how I forced KCBX to give Debbie Arnold free air time.

Here are the links:

http://sewerwatch.blogspot.com/2012/03/uh-kcbx-you-call-that-equal-time-for.html

I swear, the SLO County Parks Commission is THE shadiest government "agency" I've ever seen, and that's really saying something.

An anon writes:

"Sorry Ron, you're wrong again. There is no legal action ever proposed against the pre-recall CSD."

Well, then what do you call "Coastal Commission Enforcement Case Number V-3-07-034"

Read it and weep:

http://sewerwatch.blogspot.com/2012/05/coastal-commission-enforcement-case.html

By the way, where are Lynette's takes on the ReCreate Los Osos debacle. Did their "Principal Attorney" FINALLY give her some sound advice: "For the love of god, Lynette, STOP posting comments!"

[Ya know, I still don't understand the hate towards me. It doesn't make any sense. I mean, I'm on the verge of saving "more than 4,000" PZ property owners about $5,000...each. So, why the hate? It doesn't make any sense.

Oh, and, Los Osos? You're welcome!]

You're not on the verge of doing anything, Ron. Stop the bullshit.

Well, if I'm so irrelevant, why was KCBX forced to give Debbie Arnold free air time?

Billy writes:

Obviously?

Uh, you DID read where I wrote, "the only Republican I've ever voted for in my life," right? (pssst... just between us two: on the same ballot where I voted for Debbie, I also voted for President Obama : -)

By the way, that web site you pointed me to -- www.freedomworks.org -- it reads: "Less government."

Now THAT I'm "simpatico" with... as long as the "less government" is the SLO County Parks and Recreation Commission.

Guaranteed: That worse-than-nothing mess could vanish today, and not a single county resident would even blink. In fact, the county parks system would be BETTER without it. Just ask the Cayucos Pier.

And, before I go, above, in relation to "Coastal Commission Enforcement Case Number V-3-07-034," I write, "Read it and weep."

I WISH I woulda wrote: "Read it and weep, ESPECIALLY if you paid your $25,000 county sewer assessment up front."

OH, did those people get hosed. Think about that: If the same people that paid the county's $25,000 sewer assessment up front ALSO paid the 2003 LOCSD's Tri-W assessment fraud up front, that means that every single penny of both of their sewer assessments went to 1) funding the Tri-W fraud, and then 2) cleaning it up. OUCH!

And people like Jim Patterson were aware of that stunningly horrible situation, and did absolutely nothing to help those people. Dis-gust-ing.

I'll tell ya, it's a good thing for those property owners that our worse-than-nothing, local so-called "media," is sooooooo worse-than-nothing, or else those property owners would be really, REEEEELLY mad.

Billy Dunne said...

C’mon Ron, you’re not fooling me. Hillary Clinton voted for the war in Iraq, which disgusts me and is totally anathema to me. But would that cause me to vote for Sarah Palin, or Ted Cruz, or Donald Trump in 2016? Hardly.

ICLEI, Ron. Agenda 21. Issues close to your girl Arnold’s heart. Why don’t you start turning your obsessions to the U.N. takeover of Main Street, USA? We all might learn a thing or two from you.

As for your Los Osos stuff, I have to admit, you entertain me. Much like the “activists” who embarrass themselves each and every Tuesdsay morning at the BOS meetings, you entertain me. And for that I say, thanks friend.

Waaaay, waaaay too much fun.

Ron, are you mad at the "local so-called media" because you were banned from the New Times for being a rambling lunatic?

You haven't exposed anything.

You haven't saved anyone money.

It's no longer 2005.

I agree with Billy that you're entertaining, but in a special ed kind of way.

Ron, If our useless Tribune or even New Times did a huge three-part piece on the sewer follies, setting all this in context, spilling the beans, linking the links, spelling it all out, I think the prevailing response by the majority of Los Ososians who followed what was going on, wouldn't be anger, it would be disgust, dismay and exhaustion, as in, "Yes, Yes, we were screwed, but nothing will be done about it, nobody will be held to account, so, O.K. O.K. Whatever."

And for those who had no clue what went down, it would be a shrug and, "Yeah, that was one screwed up mess, alright. Oh well . . ."

In a word . . . "Chinatown."

Billy Dunne said...

I think once again Ann you’re omitting another important demographic of Los Osos, quite possibly the largest. Those who are not lazy thinkers, or just throwing their hands up in surrender, and are not ignorant or uninformed; those certainly not affiliated with any “side” or agenda. It’s simply those who do not share your opinion of what is best for Los Osos, and who differ with you in their interpretation of events concerning the sewer drama of the past 30 or 40 years. I guess you and others can call us whatever you’d like, but please don’t call us lazy thinkers or uninformed or acquiescent.

And I appreciate your movie-themed mantra about the sewer saga: “Chinatown,” but after witnessing some of the most unbelievably hostile, miserable, immature, obsessive, rude, twisted behavior (from admittedly a small percentage of Los Ososians, who are ill-represented by these scumbags), I prefer “Hellscape,” or “Bad People,” or “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

Ron said...

Ann writes:

"And for those who had no clue what went down, it would be a shrug and, "Yeah, that was one screwed up mess, alright. Oh well . . ."'"

Was?

Uh, well, like I recently exposed, "over 4,000" PZ property owners (including you, Ann) are STILL (present tense) being fleeced twice a year, every time they cut a check for their property taxes... until the year 2034.

The situation is beyond ridiculous: Over 4,000 PZ property owners are STILL paying for the Tri-W fraud -- a disastrous non-project that never even came close to working, and that will never exist, yet "over 4,000" Los Ososans will continue to be fleeced for that scam, twice a year, for the next 20 years, and most of them have no idea they are even being fleeced.

And the only reason I can think of on why Supervisor Gibson's phone isn't ringing off the hook from "over 4,000" REEELLY pissed off PZ property owners, is BECAUSE of the worse-than-nothing local so-called "media."

What they do there (how they handle me) is some of THE worst journalism ethics I've ever seen: If I get to a story first (which, when it comes to Los Osos, is all the time), like the amazing story of how more than 4,000 PZ property owners are being fleeced twice a year -- for the next 20 years -- for a non-project that will never exist (because it was nothing more than a fraud), then the Trib and New Times, and I'll just go ahead and toss in CalCoastNews, HAVE to pretend that that story doesn't exist, because if it does, it means that I've been right (of course) for the past 13 years, and their "reporting" has been embarrassingly horrible.

And what that does is leaves ALL the victims in the PZ just a-twistin' in the wind (not me, mind you -- PZ victims twistin' in the wind -- YOU guys are the ones getting burned by their scummy journalism ethics), because now it's just little ol' SewerWatch reporting it, using nothing but excellent, primary source documents, as usual, and, obviously I, alone, can't get the necessary traction for this spectacular story to take hold. (Fer god's sake, I'm just this tiny, little blogspot.com blog.)
