Mistah Kurtz --he dead. A penny for the Old Guy.

Saddam Hussein is hanged. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Happily, with his death, we can now easily forget that he was our boy, helped into office by the CIA, kept in power by Reagan and Rummy and the American Arms Merchants, our cat’s paw in the Iran-Iraq war, a war that saw hundreds of thousands of young men slaughtered, each calling upon Allah to smite the other. It was smiles and handshakes with a mass murderer so long as he kept the oil coming. No ethical qualms on our part with supporting a brutal dictator. No, indeed.

Now he’s dead, nearly 3,000 American soldiers are also dead. Countless Iraqis are Shocked & Awed into their graves, more will follow in the murderous sectarian chaos Bush and his incompetent airheaded NeoCons unleashed. Saddam’s death will not bring back a single one of the dead for another moment to feel the sun on their faces, or feel joy at being with their loved ones. All dust now, collateral damage in the ego-drive for power, and to make the world a safer place for corporate greed and, most important, to secure the God given, absolute right of Americans to drive their Hummers, and the arms dealers to make a profit. It’s the American way.

Which means there will be more Saddams being put into place, and then later hanged, and more deals cut, more murderers and their victims awaiting us in this brave Happy New Year to come.

Mistah Kurtz is never dead for long. And he always costs far more than a penny.

Would you rather we fight terrorism on our shores and heartland? We still might have to but,we are at least sending a message. It's sad that many of our "finest" have had to pay the price.

Terrorism knows no borders, that's what makes it so effective. We likely WILL have to "fight terrorists" "in the heartland," but we've blown precious military resources now on the wrong war in the wrong place for all the wrong reasons. The message we sent is that the President and his NeoCons are incompetents. What WORSE possible message could you send to very smart, very patient "terrorists" but that the Prez and his boys are nincompoops at warfighting. And finally, "our finest" didn't pay a price, they were wasted, thrown away. That's unacceptable.

Ann: You are a flaming liberal with no forsight of any consequences. If it was up to you we would all be speaking Japonese today, or at least German. It is easy to pick things apart, like the sewer or like the war. However to come up with a solution that will work is beyound your ability or knowledge. Sign of the American CHICKEN. Put it on your Hoover cart when there is no gas to drive. Your insensitivity to human and woman's rights is astounding.

I'm so sorry you didn't contact the President years ago since I know you've got the solution for "winning the Iraq war." If he had heard from you and followed your directions, our troops would have been handed flowers and candy by liberated Iraquis and all the troops would have been home in 6 months.

But, apparently, you didn't notify the president, so now we're in this mess. But maybe it's not too late. maybe you can still send it along to Mr. Bush. Maybe he'll include it in The Iraq report his Daddy's Boys recently submitted. I'm absolutely sure you've got the solution that will do the trick since you're a True American.
