I wouldn't miss this for anything! I'll be there!! Glad that you posted this Ann!

Loonytoons,

Why are you going to be there? (That's reason enough not to go.)

Are you one of the characters in the book? Which one, the gracefully aging TriW cheerleader? Did you do some research for the book? Is the author one of your Dreamer friends? Are you her agent? Is the book from a national publisher or local? You use too many exclamation points!!!

I'm not very interested in another bogus "Taxpayers Watch Mystery." Frankly it's still a mystery to me why Taxpayers Watch even exists except for random acts of vengeance.

"Murder in Los Lobos"? Boring title. I'd be much more interested if the title was something thoughtful like "Murder in Los Lesbos" or "Murder in Los Locos" or even "Murder in Los Sewerita." But Lobos? Sorry, but there are so many other better Spanish words she could have used. Can you imagine a statue of a fat wolf at the entrance to town? Why not call a bear a bear and grin and bear it?

Earlybird review: Two yawns and a rusty bookmark.

I'll save my money and wait for the xerox copy.

howie, you should read the book - it's viewpoint is that the mid-town project was a BAD idea!

See how you jump to conclusions and spin it into a diatribe of dislike against the book? Shows your poor thinking processes. I think you should attend and say hello - pick up a copy and THEN you can write about what is actually in it! I happened to meet Sue through a friend in LA, I am not her agent, publisher, nor is she a "dreamer."

I did not even live in Los Osos when the history part of the book was taking place, nor am I a character in it. This is NOT in ANY stretch a TW book!

My writer friend in LA rails against my use of exclamation points. So you see there is one thing anyway that I can like about you, you are in good company!

Cheers!

My sis, bro-in-law and husband ALL read and liked the book, I might add. I'm picking up a copy for my parents in Sunday.

OK, I see what you mean. Guess I did "spin it into a diatribe," didn't I? Well, I can't afford to buy the book anyway, so I'll just have to borrow it from someone else who can afford to buy it and reads such fluff. Does Sue live in LO? If you don't like me, that's OK, you are in "good company" there.

Hey. Sue's a "local" author. Coalesce Bookstore is a "local" business. I say SUPPORT BOTH! Plus, there'll be some nice eats and a chance to say Hi and wish the author well. (The writing life is hard enough without "critics" yapping at you, especially when they haven't even read what you've written, or, worse yet, misread it.

howie, I really appreciate your honesty. I will gladly give you my copy if you would like to read it - and I think it is available in the library, too.

Some very serious friends of mine read the book and enjoyed it - nothin' wrong with a murder mystery to lighten up the day. You can call it fluff, that is fine, but I call it a bit of relief from the trials of modern life!

You have been very harsh on people on this blog and that makes me sad and wondering why you are so mad. I don't dislike YOU, but your writings - true, I have not liked them.

You can reach me at sewertoons@gmail.com. I always want to bury hatchets and move on. I know I don't sound that way on this blog a lot, but I reserve hatchet burying for honesty, thoughtful reflection and appraisal of one's own behavior, just like you have shown about Sue's book.

Thanks to you, Toons, for your comments about the book, and to you, Ann, for your "support local" angle. I am quite familiar with the PI genre. I don't think I can NOT read it now.

Don't be sad that I am mad. I am sorry if I have offended you, but I have to set the record straight when I see it twisted, which most times I ignore (be thankful). But sometimes it does make me mad, and people HAVE to be corrected, as they (you) tend to build sand castles on fake facts, faux history or false premises -- that's where we get into trouble. However, I am only trying to make my point the most effective way I know. Don't mistake my language for what's in my heart. I have stated here in the past that my aim is to entertain and be read ... and, of course, inject a heavy dose of reality from those of us with less to thrown down the sewer. That's all. There is no more to it. I have no hatchet to bury, so you can go ahead and bury yours without me.

"I reserve hatchet burying for honesty, thoughtful reflection and appraisal of one's own behavior, just like you have shown..."

I reserve honesty, thoughtful reflection and appraisal of one's own behavior ... for my close friends ... for they are the trifecta of a life well worth living.

Peace ... for now

Howie ...

I got a copy from the library ... due to the local interest, they've got several copies.

I'm not opposed to buying local (and, I would suggest Volumes of Pleasure in Los Osos over most any other) ... but I don't want anyone to overlook one of our greatest resources, the local library.

I haven't had as many offers to read a book since I was a freshman at ...

The library is good for me. I didn't think they would have more than one copy and that one permanently out, but advance scout Steve now tells me they are "flush" ...

I have little choice now ...

I think Mark would check out a copy, too, if he were here ... and he would be here if he could.

Anyway, I will look further into this alleged "Murder in Los Osos" by another name.

I didn't do it -- I have an alibi.

Howie,

Los Osos has four copies. Across the local library network there are an additional eight copies. You can get a copy thru inter library loan if need be.

As long and hard as I have argued with you over a number of issues, Steve, you are obviously a tremendous resource ... and an interesting character on the scene.
